For Founder Kathie Scheer, her latest business venture ScheerDestinations is the culmination of a career that has combined a wide range of experiences in the retail, cosmetics and hospitality industries.

Kathie started her career in the cosmetics industry working for Estee Lauder Inc. based in New York City. During her ten years employment there, she worked in Public Relations where she had an opportunity to work closely with beauty editors, fashion consultants, makeup and hair stylists. For her, it was a personal privilege to have known the founder, Mrs. Estee Lauder, who built an empire around the concept of image.

“I’ve learned from the best” is a statement that you’ll often hear her say. Having worked side by side with many C-level executives throughout her career, she learned that customer service is paramount to any successful business.

Kathie received her certification in meeting management from New York University, received the prestigious CMP designation (Certified Meeting Professional) as well as trained to become a certified travel agent in order to effectively perform her job.

As a former owner of an international meeting planning company, she traveled extensively around the world. It was during this time that she honed the skill of negotiation, scouting the best locations with a critical eye for value. Known for delivering excellent service on a consistent basis, Kathie has always been dedicated to her clients’ needs.

In her spare time, Kathie volunteers as a children’s advocate at a women's prison in New York. It is here that she has realized that a personal touch can make all the difference in someone’s life.

This new venture allows Kathie to use her talents, skills and business acumen gathered from her diverse experiences. It allows her the opportunity to provide consistent, high-quality work which she has always been known for.

My Vision and Mission
Meeting people and going places have always been a personal passion of mine. Many years ago, I made my first trip abroad to Ireland, the birthplace of my grandparents. It was a special trip which would profoundly impact the course of my life.

In many ways, that is what ScheerDestinations is all about. The idea that I may influence or enhance someone’s life in a positive way is the foundation for my company.

One of my personal philosophies is that travel has a way of transforming you like no other experience can. You may have heard it said that globally as a people we are more alike than we are different – I believe that to be true. Although, I must admit that I most enjoy the differences.

As an avid traveler, I’ve learned to appreciate the cultures and customs of others and I do my best to live the experience not watch it from afar. I always try to learn a few words of that language and laugh at myself while I attempt to converse. I’ve met so many wonderful people around the world and as a result I believe it has made me who I am today.

In my opinion, this is a great time for women in many facets of life. We’ve worked hard – individually and collectively. As women, we also tend to put our own personal needs aside. I guess that’s what makes us women. On the other hand, carving out a little time for ourselves will keep us refreshed, rejuvenated and renewed.
